Safety Issues

Does the company adhere to DOT driver regulations?
The DOT limits the number of hours a driver can work. A driver is limited to 10 hours of actual driving time, and 15 actual working hours in a 24-hour period. If your itinerary exceeds these limits, ask the company how they plan to handle your group’s needs.

How does the company handle "On-The-Road" emergencies?
Does the company have a nationwide reciprocal maintenance agreement, which will assure you of prompt servicing of equipment in all regions of the USA. If not, you could be left on the side of the road!

Does the Company have a formal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program?
Specify that your carrier supply a copy of their written drug and alcohol policy statement. Never charter from a carrier that does not strongly enforce a drug and alcohol-free workplace.

Insurance Protection

Insurance Coverage While Traveling With Us

Leeway Tours carries a full $5 million in liability coverage to protect you and your group in the event of an accident while traveling with us. This coverage protects you while aboard the coach for injury due to a motor vehicle accident or other type of injury while aboard our coach.

Optional Travel Insurance

Frequently, groups inquire about additional insurance coverage to protect them throughout their travels. Optional travel insurance can be a blessing when a problem develops. Lee Way offers group or individual travel insurance coverage designed to give you piece of mind when you or your group travels. Coverage includes:

Illness during your travels
Injury during your travels
Trip interruption due to illness or death
Lost or damaged luggage
Trip cancellation protection.

The need for additional insurance varies from trip to trip, and group to group. It can be especially important and helpful for senior citizens as a supplement to Medicare or Medicaid. This can be especially true if your group is traveling outside the USA, as Medicare and Medicaid benefits do not extend to Canada or other foreign countries.

Both group and individual policies are available. Ask for more details when you call to book your next trip.

Use all the information you have gathered.
Remember, safety is the most important issue.

An accepted level of insurance for charter companies is $5 million combined, single-limit liability coverage. At Leeway Tours, your safety and peace of mind is important to us, so you can relax knowing we are fully-insured beyond the required certificate of insurance.

Please feel free to thoroughly research Leeway Tours safety records. The numbers listed below will help you access such records:

You can verify safety ratings by calling the DOT Safety Hotline at (800) 832-5660 or on the web at http://www.safersys.org. Never charter from a company with an unsatisfactory rating.

You can verify that a carriers insurance is up to date at the US DOT site website, http://www.safersys.org
